A position on staff at Spirit Rock is a wonderful opportunity to explore work as practice in a supportive environment. Spirit Rock employs approximately 30 staff in different capacities. Some staff work full time while others work part-time or on a periodic basis for the duration of a particular event. Some staff are salaried; others are residential with a stipend; while others work on a dana basis. We have a wide range of positions requiring a variety of skills.
Spirit Rock is currently accepting applications for the following positions:
- Kitchen Manager - we are no longer accepting resumes.

(Please note: We are accepting Dana Cook applications for future placement. Positions are filled as openings occur. These are temporary, occasional positions).
Qualifications:
- Vipassana Meditation background
- Ability to maintain retreat atmosphere in the kitchen
- Plan and execute vegetarian meals on your own
- Team Player
- Flexible schedule
- Also available on occasional basis (as back-up)
- Ability to work and stand for long periods of time
- Live locally (driving distance) preferred
- Will consider non-local cook for 2 month blocks
Job Duties: Cook meals for 60-150, work with special dietary needs, help with maintaining kitchen organization and cleanliness; train yogis in work meditation; participate in sittings and/or Dharma talks as able.
Dates: Retreats range from 2-14 or more nights at a time, they occur continually throughout the year.
Compensation: Dana basis: by donation from the retreatants at the end of the retreat. Often quite generous. Room and board while on retreat is provided. Additional limited medical benefits available.
